This is the third installment of my longest-running series:

SEEKING THE BEAST III

You and your friend went cave diving, but now it is getting dark. It is widely known that staying outside when it is dark is not a smart move as a giant beast roams the lands. But your friend lost the key to the gate house! Recover the key and get home safe!

Context:

This is a rather ambitious try to create a 3d RPG engine for future demakes. It is a short game, more like a little tech demo, and i hope you enjoy it. It was created with the help of Mot`s Instant 3d plus! and some of amusicians pixel art from a former, abandoned project.

Notable Features:

  • Inspired by the books in Morrowind  I added a possibility to display books containing clues about the world you're in. This allows for some more immersive worldbuilding
  • 3d-Particle Engine that kinda runs okay
  • classic RPG scrolling texts
  • a multiphase boss fight
  • a speedrun timer! (my best is 3:42"133)

Quickfix Update:

  • fixed some spelling errors
  • fixed a respawn location allowing you to skip a part of the game
  • fixed an instance where the player could get trapped in the attack animation

Just beat this last night. Really fun, feel like i missed a few secrets maybe. There were some locked doors i never entered.

Been wanting to make a raycaster game like this for a while but i dont even know where to start on that. Very impressive.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yes,there are a few hidden things :)

This is not a raycaster though, this is a library created by Mot that allows you to display sprites with perspective, a raycaster is how castle wolfenstein and doom worked. Or my phasmophobia demake(hehe)

ooh ok. Well I will have to search for those secrets

Finished in 67 minutes lol, I wouldn't really call it a speed-run 😆

Excellent implementation of instant 3d, the contour of hidden houses on front was a classy touch 👌 Great job!

Thank you so much for spending so much time on my game! I'm happy you enjoyed it, thank you for the kind words. Did you find the wedding ring?

Yes! Somehow I've found it before the woman asked for it, unless it was the intended sequence.

I though it might entice some exploring, backtracking and immersing. But yes, stumbling upon it is a valid option too ^^
